School Uniforms & Dress Code

Students at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School wear their school uniform each day.  More information will be available in the Parent / Student handbook.  This year, new uniform items are being introduced to our school.  The new items consist of a tartan kilt/jumper (for girls), white dress shirts (all students), grey skort (girl’s summer option), white golf shirts (all students) and a burgundy sweater (all students).  St. Joseph School will be “grandfathering in” these new uniform items over time – allowing students the opportunity to wear older uniform items from the previous uniform provider.

The new uniform consists of the following items: 

Boys – grey dress pants / grey dress shorts (summer option), white dress shirt, white golf shirt, burgundy school sweater, grey socks and black dress shoes (indoor shoes).

Girls – tartan kilt or jumper / grey dress pants / grey skort (summer option), white dress shirt, white golf shirt, burgundy school sweater, grey knee highs or tights and black dress shoes (indoor shoes).

This year, all students will be required to wear their school sweater - either burgundy (new) or navy (old) – every Monday for assemblies.  Students will also need to wear their school sweater for all school Masses and for school field trips / events as required.  Black dress shoes will be required for all students.  Black runners or skate shoes will not be acceptable.

Physical Education Uniform:

The uniform for P.E. (grades 2-7) consists of navy crested shorts, a royal blue crested t-shirt (both available at Big Kahuna in Kelowna), and indoor running shoes.

Requirements:

We ask that all students keep their hair neat, clean and off their shoulders.  Students with pierced ears are to wear only small ‘studs’ for safety and appearance.  Makeup should be limited to clear lip-gloss and clear nail polish. 

We also ask that all clothing items are labelled.  Iron-on labels are available and can be ordered from Cambridge and Company.
