Considering Catholic education for your child?

Merry Christmas to all our school families and staff. We look forward to seeing you back on January 8th!

Dear School Families,

As our Christmas break begins, I take time to reflect on how this has been our first full term in our newly expanded, fully renovated St. Joseph School. It takes my breath away daily, when I walk in to our school and see what we have been so blessed with. Last year at this time, our Atrium, Welcome window, staff room, computer lab, library and the  Doyle Hall renovation were just beyond our reach, but over the past 12 months we have arrived! A few odds and ends and some landscaping are left but WOW! WHAT A HOME WE HAVE!! And this year we have welcomed more ‘new’ families to our school than any other year in the recent past. Each of those families has just added to what a fantastic community we are here. We are also so excited that we will be welcoming 3 new students in January and I know we will surround them and their families with love and caring to make them feel a part of who we are.

Our school continues to fill me with joy and I am reminded again and again how lucky I am, we all are, to be part of such a wonderful community. Our students, families and staff continue to reach out to others in the true spirit of God in so many ways and for this, we are truly blessed. Our grade 6 classes raised over $800 during our ‘I’m Dreaming of a GREEN Christmas’ sale, setting a new fundraising goal! That is enough money to purchase two donkeys and 3 goats to support Project GROW. Project GROW! is a Not for Profit Society, that helps women in Ghana become self-sufficient. The animals will be purchased in Ghana by OUC Nursing students next year. Our grade 5 class raised over $200 for St. Vincent de Paul selling Christmas baking and the PSG received more than $800 in cash donations and 4 big baskets full of food donations, all going towards the St. Vincent de Paul food bank. These are just a few of the amazing ways that our community shows support for others in need.

As we journey into this Christmas season of celebration and faith, we thank God for the many blessings we have, and ask God to grant comfort, strength, hope and healing to all who are in need.

Thank you for the love, energy and time you put into supporting your child and our school. On behalf of the whole St. Joseph Staff, enjoy family time, laughter and many hugs over the Christmas break, and blessings to you all.

Yours in Christ,

Lynn Fleck
